The One Show: Craig Revel Horwood discusses his new single

BBC fans who tuned into Monday's instalment of The One Show were left divided over Craig Revel Horwood's new single. The Strictly Come Dancing judge released his debut solo album in a shock music announcement.

Speaking to Alex Jones and Clara Amfo, Craig spoke about the inspiration behind the album and he said he "loves musicals" and Shirley Bassey all his life. They also played a segment from one of his soundtracks in the studio.

However, fans who watched the show were left divided over Craig's singing. One person said on X: "Sorry Craig but that’s far from fab-u-lous darling ! #TheOneShow."

A second person also chimed in: "#theoneshow oh no. Love Craig but that is karaoke." A third person similarly agreed and typed: "Craig you can’t sing, give it up #TheOneShow."

On the other hand, there were plenty of delighted fans who loved the single. One person said: "Oh my god @CraigRevHorwood the song sounds so gd x cant wait to listen to it all and to ur album x love u craig xx."

A second person also said: "Brilliant voice, Craig! You are wonderful." A third fans who watched the show said: " Fabulous darling. Hope you get to perform on Strictly. You're amazing x." [sic]

The long-serving Strictly judge has been on the BBC dance competition since it first began in 2004 alongside Arlene Phillips, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli.

In December last year, he shut down rumours that he was quitting the show after 21 years. He confirmed during an episode on This Morning that he wasn't going anywhere and told fans: "Don't listen to those vicious rumours."

Also during The One Show, Alex and Clara spoke to Karen Gillan and Hugh Bonneville as they star in a new ITV series, Douglas is Cancelled.

The comedy drama, written by Steven Moffat, details a widely respected news anchor being affected by cancel culture after he makes a sexist remark during a wedding reception.

The One Show airs on BBC One at 7pm on weekdays.
