History
The Cosmopolitan co*cktail is a popular drink that gained widespread recognition in the 1990s. It is often associated with the television show “Sex and the City,” where it was a favorite of the main characters. However, the drink’s history goes back much further than that.
The origins of the Cosmopolitan are somewhat disputed, with some claiming that it was first created in Miami in the 1980s, while others believe that it was invented in New York City. The most widely accepted version of the story is that the drink was first created in 1987 by a bartender named Toby Cecchini, who was working at The Odeon in Manhattan at the time.In the 1990s, the drink gained widespread popularity, thanks in part to its appearance on “Sex and the City.”

The Cosmopolitan was particularly popular in New York City, where it was a fixture in many bars and restaurants. It was also popular in other cities, such as Miami and San Francisco, and quickly became a staple of co*cktail menus across the country.
Making a Cosmopolitan co*cktail is easy and can be done in just a few simple steps. To make a classic Cosmo, you'll need vodka, triple sec, lime juice, and cranberry juice.
Add 2 oz of vodka, 1 oz of triple sec, 3/4 oz of lime juice, and 3/4 oz of cranberry juice to the shaker.
Shake vigorously for about 10-15 seconds until the shaker is frosty and cold.
Strain the mixture into a chilled co*cktail glass.
Garnish with a lime wedge or twist.
Notes
If you prefer a sweeter Cosmo, you can add a splash of simple syrup or agave to the mixture. You can also experiment with flavored vodkas, such as citrus or raspberry, to add a unique twist to the classic recipe.
When it comes to the type of cranberry juice to use, it's best to choose a 100% cranberry juice that is unsweetened. Ocean Spray cranberry juice co*cktail is a popular choice, but you can also use fresh-squeezed cranberry juice if you prefer.

This is a classic for a reason—it's sweet but not overly so, and provides just the right amount of citrus flavor for any co*cktail, from a Margarita to a Cosmopolitan.
What Is the Best Vodka for a Cosmo? While purists will insist on a lemon-accented citron vodka such as Absolut Citron (and I recommend as much), there are more than a few ways to approach the cosmopolitan. The citrus accents to the vodka are somewhat key, however, unless you want to add lemon juice on your own.
Because of this production difference, Grand Marnier is heavier and a bit sweeter. So can you still use it in your Cosmo recipe? Sure! We just have to make a little adjustment so you still have a balanced co*cktail in the end.
Ingredients are the things that are used to make something, especially all the different foods you use when you are cooking a particular dish. Mix in the remaining ingredients. An ingredient of a situation is one of the essential parts of it. I think that is one of the major ingredients in his success.
vodka, 1 oz.cranberry juice co*cktail, ¾ oz fresh lime juice, and ¾ oz.triple sec in a co*cktail shaker. Fill shaker with ice, cover, and shake vigorously until outside of shaker is very cold, about 20 seconds.
Cointreau is more expensive, but also has a more complex, smooth flavor. I use it in most of my co*cktail recipes (rather than Triple Sec), especially when I'm serving a drink that is served straight up – like this Cosmopolitan.
Concocted by Mariena Mercer, lead mixologist at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, the Verbena co*cktail is a lemon verbena and ginger infused margarita garnished with a Sichuan flower. Order the drink, and your bartender will instruct you to eat the flower first.

It all comes down to branding and creating a sense of exclusivity. Everything about the Grand Marnier brand, including the packaging, is designed to give a sense of sophistication. That is why a 750ml bottle of Cointreau will cost you $30-35 and the same size bottle of Grand Marnier will run you $35-45.
Perhaps the two most famous brands of orange liqueur are Grand Marnier and Cointreau, and you might be wondering where they fit in to this taxonomy. Simple. Grand Marnier is an orange liqueur in the curaçao tradition, and Cointreau is a triple sec.
A cosmopolitan, or simply "cosmo," is a vodka co*cktail made with triple sec, cranberry juice, and lime juice. The drink was invented in the 1930s, but rose in popularity in the 1990s. It became even more fashionable after it was frequently featured on Sex and the City.
